Makaton Taster - Half Day
An introduction to Makaton for complete beginners. 20 signs and symbols plus 10 of your choosing. Plus practical activities and games.
Makaton Beginners' Workshop Module 1 - Half Day
Another course for beginners but for those who want more signs than the taster course. This a practical course with some background information about Makaton. Stage one 60 signs and symbols.
Makaton Beginners' Workshop Modules 1 and 2 - One Day
This is a full day workshop that covers stages one and two signs and symbols (around 120). It is a practical course aimed at parents and carers but can also work for professionals if a more practical course is preferred.
Makaton Beginners' Workshop All 4 Modules - Two Days
This is the whole of the Beginners' workshop that covers all the first 4 stages plus the additional stage - 250 signs and symbols. A practical course with some background information about Makaton.
Makaton Foundation Workshop - Two Days
This course is similar to the beginner's but has more theory. It is aimed at professionals or those who work with adults or children but is also suitable for parents and carers. It covers the first four stages and the additional stages. This workshop cannot be split into different modules in the way that the Beginners' workshop can.
Makaton Enhancement Workshop and Makaton Follow up Workshop.
These more advanced courses are aimed at those who have already completed a Foundation Workshop or a Beginners' Workshop and cover stages 5 to 8. Do get in contact if you are interested in booking or attending one of these courses.
Makaton Signing for Babies
This is for parents, carers or family members who would like to sign with babies or children in their care. The 6 weekly sessions are designed to encourage the development of communication and language skills in babies and toddlers. Participating adults will bring their baby with them.

Makaton training courses are run regularly at the Scope Inclusion South East office in Albion Street, Brighton. The forthcoming workshops are listed below on the left. On the right there is a list of Makaton Workshops that Astrella is able to offer. Astrella can run these courses at Scope or she can visit your setting or work place and run the training there.
